HOW LONG DOES EACH THERAPY SESSION TAKE?

The first session which is usually an assessment can take between 60-90 minutes. In this time I am able to assess what would be the most beneficial treatment plan for you! 1-1 therapy is usually 60 minutes on a weekly or bi-monthly basis and EMDR therapy is best done in 90 minutes.

RECOGNISING AN EATING DISORDER

If you tick the following criteria you may be struggling with disordered eating:

  • I exercise in excess

  • I feel guilty after eating

  • I am terrified of being overweight

  • I dress in layers to hide my weight

  • I spend too much money on food

  • I have become withdrawn and secretive

  • I am preoccupied with thoughts about food

  • I only eat safe foods, low in calories and fats

  • I don't feel I have control and eat too much or too little

  • I avoid family or friends as they interefere with my eating rules

  • I spend a lot of time thinking and planning my next binge

  • I have rituals such as cutting food into small pieces or weighing food.

IS THERAPY ENOUGH ON IT'S OWN?

During the assessment phase of treatment I will be able to recommend what I believe would be the most appropriate plan for you & YOUR recovery. Every client is different and some clients do need a more holistic, team approach- which may include having a psychiatrist and dietician as part of your plan. I can make the necessary referrals if this is needed so that you can have an outpatient team caring for each part of your recovery process.
